During the 2019-2021 Biennium, the Kappa Kappa Psi Alumni Association established the Zachary Stoddard Young Alumni Award to recognize brothers for outstanding achievement in the area of fraternal service. Zach Stoddard, a Life Member of the Nu Alpha Chapter at Georgia State University, could always be counted on by his chapter brothers and university directors for his support even as an alumni brother. His unswerving loyalty to the brotherhood and loving personality was the impetus for the naming of the award. Candidate criteria and required information are included below.

Nominations for this award may be made by active chapters of Kappa Kappa Psi or Tau Beta Sigma, Local Alumni Associations (“LAAs”) of Kappa Kappa Psi or Tau Beta Sigma, individual alumni and life members of Kappa Kappa Psi or Tau Beta Sigma, any member of the National Headquarters Staff, the National Leadership Team, or any voting member of the Kappa Kappa Psi Alumni Association.

Any person nominated must be a voting member of the Alumni Association. They cannot be a current member of any part of the National Leadership Team or an employee of the fraternity. All nomination applications are to be submitted via email to kkpsiaa-awards@kkpsi.org.  Applications may be submitted at any time, but are encouraged by the priority deadlines of May 15 and November 15 annually.

Nominee Criteria:

To be eligible for consideration, the following criteria must be met:

  1. The nominee must have completed their last attended semester at least one year, but not more than five years prior to May 15th of the next National Convention. The Alumni Association Board of Directors has the authority to allow for discretion involving certain instances where questions regarding dates may arise.

  2. The nominator must also provide a letter covering the following topics, taking into consideration and mentioning, where appropriate, attendance at fraternity events, different roles held, any informal support, and any other pertinent information regarding the nominee’s fraternal service (at the local, district, and/or national levels):

    • How does your nominee continue to serve and support the fraternity as an alumnus?

    • How does your nominee support and strengthen the role of alumni?

    • How does your nominee take the values of Kappa Kappa Psi to heart?

    • How does your nominee fit the “What can I do for you?” state of mind?

    • How do you envision your nominee’s involvement 5 years from now?

  3. The nominator should also submit any recommendation letters from people who can attest to the quality of the nominee’s fraternal service. Examples of individuals who could submit a recommendation letter include but are not limited to, a Director of Bands, Sponsor, or any individual who has worked with the nominee on a Local, District, or National Level. Please limit the number of letters to five (5).  The quality of the letter(s) will be weighed more than the quantity.

  4. After reviewing the submissions, the Awards Committee may follow up with the nominator with any additional questions.
